68 Mega Pixels Camera Phone | The P20 - Huawei

Welcome back guys I'm here with a new post. In this post i am going to give my review on the Latest Huawei P20. Huawei is producing many phone but this one is exception. As the heading says " 68 Mega Pixels Camera Phone" the P20 is a successor of P10 but P20 is like inspired by IPhone X. The P20 is released in three edition which are P20 Pro, P20 Lite and obviously the third one is P20. P20 is released on 27 March and it available in market but if you live in US you just cannot buy it now because it is not available in US now.

Price and Availability

The official price is set by Huawei at €649 and we've seen retailers in the UK stocking it at £599 (around $800, AU$1,040). The phone won't be available directly in the US, so if you live in America you won't be able to readily buy it. There's currently no confirmation on whether the Huawei P20 will be available in Australia.

Design, Body and Display

The P20 body is 7.65mm thick without 3.5mm audio jack, Yes there is no audio jack in P20 and P20 isn't even waterproof but if you want that tech you should but P20 Pro, it come with waterproofing system. P20 has a glass back and metal frame like many other phones. The rear side is from the trends of notch at the top of the screen just like IPhone X. It comes in black, midnight blue, pink gold, twilight and champagne gold colors, with the pink gold and twilight colors sporting a ‘Gradient Finish’ which combines purple, blue and pink shades for a rainbow of colors. Not all shades will necessarily be available in all regions though. The P20 comes with 5.8" inches screen while P20 Pro offers 6.1 inches and P20 Lite have 5.84" inches display.

OS and Specifications

The Huawei P20 using Android 8.1 with an wrapping of Huawei own EMUI version 8.1, if you have experienced Huawei recent flagships than I think you'll know what will you experience here. The chipset in P20 is Hisilicon Kirin 970 and CPU contain Octa-core (4x2.4 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4x1.8 GHz Cortex-A53). The P20 does not support SD-card while it has built-in memory of 128 GB and 4GB of RAM.

Camera and Battery

The main feature of this Flagship of Huawei, The P20 have a special camera with 3 Lens in a row of 40 MP, 20 MP and 8 MP. But this main features only is in P20 Pro.
A quick look at the device’s back plate reveals that the P20 Pro is the first smartphone to feature a triple camera setup. However, Huawei hasn’t simply slapped a third sensor and lens onto its current dual-camera system. The new model stands out among its peers in several ways:

1. At 1/1.78″, the main camera’s sensor is unusually large—approximately twice the size of the Samsung Galaxy S9’s 1/2.55″ chip. Despite a slightly slower f/1.8-aperture lens, the RGB main camera sensor of the  P20 Pro captures approximately 20 percent more light than the smaller sensors used in most competing models. This sensor is also helped by the B&W sensor which also catches a lot of photons.

2.The main camera sensor uses a Quad Bayer structure with a total pixel count of 40Mp. It outputs data binned in 2 × 2 pixel units, resulting in 10Mp image output.

3.With an equivalent focal length of 80mm, the P20 Pro’s optically-stabilized tele-camera offers a significantly longer reach than the 2x tele-modules in the latest iPhone or Samsung Galaxy devices. This is possible because the main camera in combination with the 20Mp monochrome secondary sensor is already capable of delivering decent zoom detail at a 2x zoom factor. As a consequence, the engineers have been able to focus on squeezing a longer reach out of the P20 Pro’s tele-lens. The Tele also outputs 10Mp image.

As with previous high-end Huawei smartphones, the monochrome camera serves several purposes: it helps with depth estimation for the simulated bokeh effect, and the fine detail and low noise levels of the monochrome sensor improve image quality when zooming and in low light.

Key Specification:

  • Triple camera setup
  • Main camera: 40Mp, 1/1.73″ RGB sensor with Quad Bayer structure, f/1.8-aperture lens with 27mm equivalent focal length
  • Secondary camera: 20Mp, 1/2.78″ monochrome sensor, f/1.6-aperture lens with 27mm equivalent focal length
  • Tele-camera: 8Mp, 1/4.4″ RGB sensor, f/2.4-aperture lens with 80mm equivalent focal length, and optical image stabilization
  • Aperture mode default eq. focal length: 55mm
  • PDAF on main sensor
  • 4K video (not default mode)
  • 960 fps slow-motion video at 720p
  • 6.1″ display, 2240 x 1080 resolution
  • Kirin 970 chipset
If we talk about P20, it has a dual-lens camera on the back, with a 12MP f/1.8 color (RGB) sensor and a 20MP f/1.6 black and white (monochrome) sensor, which is the same sort of dual-lens setup as we've seen on previous Huawei flagships. It’s Leica-branded. and Huawei claims the 12MP camera has 61% larger pixels than the company’s previous 12MP camera. The phone can also shoot slow-motion video in 720p quality at up to 960 frames per second, matching the Samsung Galaxy S9, and there’s a 24MP f/2.0 camera on the front.

The Huawei P20 also boasts some AI camera abilities, as it can use AI to do things like detect the type of scene you’re shooting and adjust the settings accordingly, or to stabilize images.

If we talk about its battery there’s a 3,400mAh battery keeping the Huawei P20 running, which is an above-average size, though it remains to be seen how well it will last. The phone also sports Huawei’s Super Charge feature, allowing you to juice it up quickly.
